Known as The Monk Dude, Dada is a meditation instructor, an author, a keynote speaker and a musician. Born in New Zealand, Dada was ordained as a yoga monk in India in 1979, where earned a Certificate of Acaryaship and Senior Acharyaship from Seva Dharma Mission Yoga Training Center in India. He has since clocked up more than 30,000 hours of meditation and performed and spoken in more than 40 countries, including in Brazil in 1992 where he appeared on stage before 10,000 people. Now he trains younger teachers and develops teaching materials and training programs for the global Seva Dharma Mission.

Dada lives in Silicon Valley, California and has spoken on Meditation, MindfulnessCreativity and Leadership for organizations including Google, CISCO, Facebook, Intel, TEDx, Lam Research, NVIDIA, Kellogg Alumni Association, UC Berkeley and UC Santa Cruz. The Monk Dude currently sits on the Regional Advisory Board for Women In Technology International (WITI). In 2012 Dada graduated from the National Speakers Association Pro-Track training program.

 

Dada’s book on meditation, Close Your Eyes & Open Your Mind, is used by meditation teachers all over the world and is available in twelve languages, including Chinese.
In 2015 he published his first comic fantasy novel, Real Dragons Don’t Cry.

 

Dada started playing music at the age of four and is a multi-instrumentalist and singer. He has recorded eight albums, won five international songwriting awards and has performed and recorded with a number of notable musicians including Paul Winter, Premik Tubbs (from Santana and John Mclaughlin bands) Harry Williamson (from Gong) and the
late, great Daevid Allen, founder of Gong and Soft Machine. 

 

Dada’s book, Close Your Eyes & Open Your Mind has been expanded into an
online course comprising 8 X 45 minutes modules. Dada has produced more than 50 short teaching videos about meditation and creativity and is now working with two Hollywood producers on an eight part documentary series, The Story of Meditation.
